Situated about halfway between Ottawa and Kingston, this 3,200 sq ft property represents the ultimate in rural living, energy efficiency and sustainable design. The Bed and Breakfast, with its 2 Private Suites (both with comfy queens) currently provides guests with a place to put their feet up and relax while visiting the area, but could also be long term rentals. Three types of saunas, (NIR and FAR Infra-red and Finnish), along with a hot tub , make for a unique Spa experience, allowing the body to de-stress and regenerate.

Formerly St. Andrew’s United Church, in the hamlet of Watson’s Corners, the original 1894 building was converted into a unique, open concept, 2 bedroom residence. 17ft ceilings showcase the wrought iron, spiral staircase leading to the loft, overlooking the living room and kitchen. The loft features the residence’s master bedroom, large 4 pc bath, ‘his’ and ‘hers’ walk in closets, plus a storage closet. Use of local wood siding and beams give stunning effect to the open space.
Propane, providing 100% of the heating for the residence, totals only about $700, annually.
The former Sunday School was a ‘back to the studs’ total renovation. Recently converted to a Private Suite Bed and Breakfast boasting a living room, kitchen, dining room/den, 3 pc bath and 2 closets.
Built in 2015, to Passive House Energy Standards, the attached addition features a second Private Suite with a cozy guest bedroom; kitchen, living/dining room, sauna area, 2 pc bath and separate shower room. Three levels of decking, totaling nearly 1000 sq ft. provide ample seating, and feather a hot tub and aFinnish Sauna.
A permanent 27’ Golden Falcon RV, is used as a 3rd B&B rental, in season - sleeps up to four. The 4 car, fully powered garage is being used as a 2 car garage and woodworking shop. Enough parking for 10 or so cars.
All this, along with the furniture/fixtures and appliances and everything needed to make this a turn-key operation is included.
The Suites could also be instantly turned into long term rental apartments, renting for about $1200 monthly each.
This beautifully renovated former Church is an EnerGuide 84, unique residence and Bed & Breakfast and Day Spa operation, nestled in peaceful and picturesque Lanark Highlands, Eastern Ontario, was designed with sustainability in mind. To quote Marty Verk, the energy auditor, "This house exceeds both old and new that I have tested in 10 years [4,000 buildings]. Using our blower door test, this home has the tightest air exchange rate I have ever measured." These renovations took the heating cost of the church residence to an unheard of $700.00, annually.
The look of the original church has been maintained in the windows (with custom made, Krypton gas windows added on the interior for energy efficiency), and in the retention of the original hanging light fixtures and some of the wainscotting.
